The pool building Process

Here’s what to expect with our building process. Sit back and leave the rest to us! Below is our step by step process we follow to build each pool. Check back while construction is under way to see how close you are to swimming in your pool!

Once under contract, we create and submit your permit packet to the appropriate municipality. Each city and county are very unique in process and review times.

Congratulations, we have a permit! Land preparation is a very important first step before construction begins. During the sod strip, all grass and landscaping will be removed in and around the construction site.

Here the layout of your pool will be created using wooden forms. With over 30 years of experience, our layout-dig-steel crew is one of the best in the business!

This is our son’s, Charlie, favorite part of pool construction – digging the dirt! Your pool will be dug to the appropriate depth and size. More often than not here in Florida, we will hit water while digging requiring rock to be added to stabilize the ground. Don’t worry – this is normal!

Steel bars are placed and tied to create the shell of your pool. This will give the sprayed concrete, called gunite, something to grab on to for stability. Here any water features, drains, or spa jets will be pre-plumbed.

Most municipalities require an inspection at this point.

Concrete is sprayed to create the shell of your pool and must dry properly before any additional work can be done in the surrounding construction site.

After the gunite sets, dirt will be pushed back and roughly graded into place giving the plumbers a clean slate to work with. Don’t look now but your pool is one-third of the way done!

It’s finally time for plumbing lines and pool equipment to be set! After this is complete, some municipalities will require an inspection at this point.

Coping is the material around the border of the pool that is placed above the tile and next to your decking to provide a seamless finish.

Your pool is officially halfway complete! If you are getting a screen enclosure, your concrete footer will be poured. If the elevation of your backyard required a concrete turn-down it will also be poured at this stage.

Our certified electrician will make sure there is adequate power to your pool equipment location.

If you do not have a termite bond, many municipalities require a termite treatment prior to deck installation. No bond – No fear. We are happy to recommend an environmentally friendly treatment company.

Municipalities require an inspection at this point prior to deck installation.

Whether you have selected an acrylic concrete deck or paver deck, here the transformation really starts to happen. Before your eyes, you will start to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

The three most common options for a safety barrier around your pool are:

1) Screen enclosure

2) Exterior Fence

3) Child-Safety Fence. Each barrier has it’s pros and cons but are an absolute necessity.

This inspection focuses on ensuring your safety barrier meets all state and local requirements before water is in the pool.

Before the most anticipated step, we will complete the grade around your pool deck and remove any unwanted construction debris.

Your pool interior color will now be applied to the interior walls of your pool. Whether you have selected a quartz interior finish or a mini-pebble interior finish will determine when your pool will be filled with water.

The moment you have been waiting for… WATER! If you have selected a quartz interior finish, we will begin filling your pool with water immediately following interior installation. If you have selected a mini-pebble interior finish, we must wait at least 24 hours before starting the filling process. It is very important NOT to stop the filling process until the waterline is halfway up your perimeter tile. Depending where you live and what type of water we will be using to fill your pool – your water may not be the beautiful shade of pool you were hoping for. Rest assured, we will take care of that on the next step.

Now time for a little chemistry. Don’t worry, we will handle this step too. We will get your pool water chemistry ready to swim in no time. Municipalities require one or a series of final inspections to ensure safety and sanitation. We will complete those there.

You’ve made it to the FINAL step… SCHOOL. Pool School that is. One of our experts will provide you with an in person tutorial on water chemistry, pool equipment, and answer any questions you may have. In one month we will provide a courtesy follow-up to ensure all is well. Now what are you waiting for? Go enjoy your pool!
